Terms and Conditions

Terms of use of this website and terms of sale for our load calculations and drawings.

Effective October 27, 2026 · Altheim & Sons Electrical Consultants · orders@altheimandsons.com

By using this website, sending us a project, or ordering any product, you ("Client") agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

1. What we provide

1.1 Altheim & Sons Electrical Consultants ("Altheim & Sons") provides electrical drafting, NEC load calculations and code-consulting support ("Deliverables") for dwellings, based on information the Client supplies.

1.2 Altheim & Sons is not an engineering firm and does not practice professional engineering, architecture or land surveying. Deliverables are not sealed or stamped, unless a separately licensed firm contracts with the Client directly for that service.

1.3 Consulting purposes only. Under the National Electrical Code, the NYC Electrical Code and other applicable law, a licensed electrician and/or licensed professional engineer or registered architect must review, verify, adopt, certify and take responsibility for the design, the filing and the work before installation. The Client will not use any Deliverable for construction, ordering equipment or filing until that licensee has done so.

1.4 Altheim & Sons does not guarantee approval by any building department, utility, fire department or other authority having jurisdiction ("AHJ"), or any particular schedule of approval.

1.5 The free calculators on this website give preliminary estimates from the information entered. They are not Deliverables and are provided free of charge and without any warranty.

2. Client information

2.1 Deliverables rely on the Client's inputs and uploads (sizes, appliances, existing service, drawings). Altheim & Sons does not visit the site or verify field conditions unless a site visit is bought separately.

2.2 The Client is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of its information and for having the right to share any drawings it uploads.

3. Quotes, orders, price and payment

3.1 Sending a project or a notification request through this website is a request for a quote, not an order. An order exists only when Altheim & Sons confirms a fixed price in writing and the Client accepts and pays it.

3.2 The confirmed price is fixed for the scope described in it.

3.3 Payment is due in full before delivery. Deliverables are released only after payment clears.

3.4 Prices exclude permit, filing, utility and AHJ fees, which the Client pays directly.

3.5 Sales tax is added where required by law.

4. Delivery and revisions

4.1 Turnaround starts when payment and all required information are received. Stated turnaround is an estimate.

4.2 Included: changes needed to answer written comments from an AHJ plan examiner on the original scope, within 90 days of delivery.

4.3 Included: one round of Client-requested changes within 14 days of delivery, if the scope does not change.

4.4 Paid revisions: any other change is priced per sheet revised at the published revision rate. A change in scope (more units, larger area, new service) is a new quote.

5. As-built drawings

5.1 As-built drawings are a separate service, priced per job after Altheim & Sons reviews the Client's submittal (photos or scans of marked-up plans, panel schedules and field changes). No as-built work starts until the Client accepts the quote and pays in full.

5.2 As-builts record what the Client and its contractors report was installed. Altheim & Sons does not visit the site or verify field conditions, and is not responsible for errors or omissions in the Client's markups.

5.3 Markups that are unreadable or incomplete may be returned for clarification. Additional rounds are billed at the published per-sheet revision rate.

6. Refunds

6.1 Before work starts: full refund less payment-processing fees.

6.2 After work starts: no refund. Altheim & Sons will finish the Deliverables or, at its option, refund a pro-rata share for work not yet done.

6.3 An instant automated load-calc report is non-refundable once generated.

7. Copyright and licence

7.1 Altheim & Sons owns all copyright and other rights in the Deliverables, templates, calculations and the website.

7.2 After full payment, the Client gets a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Deliverables for the one project address on the order, including copying them for permit filing and for the Client's contractors on that project.

7.3 The Client may not reuse the Deliverables for any other address, resell them, remove Altheim & Sons' title block or copyright notice, or present them as the work of another person, except as needed for a licensee to adopt them under section 1.3.

7.4 Uploaded Client drawings remain the property of their owners. The Client gives Altheim & Sons a licence to use them only to prepare the Deliverables.

8. No warranty

Deliverables and the website are provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, Altheim & Sons disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and code compliance in the AHJ's interpretation.

9. Limitation of liability

9.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, Altheim & Sons' total liability arising out of or related to any order or the website, under any theory, is limited to the amount the Client paid for that order.

9.2 Altheim & Sons is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages, lost profits, delay, re-work, or equipment bought before a licensee verified the Deliverables.

9.3 Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under New York law, including for gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

10. Client indemnity

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Client will defend, indemnify and hold harmless Altheim & Sons and its owners and staff from claims, losses and costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) inaccurate or incomplete information the Client supplied; (b) use of Deliverables contrary to section 1.3 or section 7; (c) the Client's or its contractors' work. This does not cover claims caused by Altheim & Sons' own negligence.

11. Website use

No scraping, reverse-engineering, automated access, or uploading of malware or unlawful content. Altheim & Sons may suspend access for anyone who breaks these Terms. The online calculators give estimates only.

12. Privacy

Project information is used only to provide the service and is not sold. See the Privacy Policy.

13. Disputes

New York law governs. Disputes go to the state or federal courts located in the State of New York. Any claim must be brought within one year after delivery, where the law allows.

14. General

These Terms are the whole agreement for each order, together with the written price confirmation. If any part is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Altheim & Sons may update these Terms. When it does, it updates this page and the date at the top and announces the change by email to customers and to everyone who signed up for notices; the version in effect when the Client accepts a quote applies to that order.
